A Passion for Long Term Care
Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, I spent 28 years in healthcare. During that time, my work with laboratories that served patients in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care settings provided me with a broad base of knowledge related to the healthcare industry. My experience with multiple family members has allowed me to see the issue of long-term care from a personal viewpoint. Because of the long-term care needs of my mom, my dad, my mother-in-law, and my brother-in-law, I can talk about every aspect of long-term care services from a personal experience perspective. My family's needs have helped instill a passion and direction for my practice. I am the Long Term Care Specialist for my local Network Office. With my personal and professional background, my focus is to help my clients and my associates' clients design long-term care insurance plans to meet their personal and financial security goals.
Professional Designations
I have earned the professional designations of Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC), Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL) an expertise dedicated to the full range of financial, health, psychological and sociological issues confronting older individuals and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) the highest level of studies in the life insurance profession. These designations are offered through The American College, the nation's leading non-profit, fully accredited university dedicated to educating financial service professionals. Both designations require extensive business experience prior to admittance to the program. In addition to rigorous course work, there is large emphasis on ethics, culminating with a professional pledge. Once these designations are achieved, CLTC, CASL and CLU must maintain a high level of continuing education.
The Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC) designation is one of the most extensive educations available for financial professionals in the field of long-term care insurance. Graduates of the CLTC designation program from the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Inc. have completed a multidisciplinary curriculum with a detailed concentration on essential information involved in the sale of long-term care insurance. The program, acknowledged by state regulators as an appropriate continuing education means, is a valuable resource for financial professionals desiring to remain up-to-date on industry trends. The Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL) designation focuses exclusively on the unique needs of mature clients. Developed with input from a panel of industry professionals, the designation provides representatives with comprehensive knowledge on the full range of financial, health, psychological and sociological issues confronting older clients. Individuals who earn the CASL designation gain a thorough understanding of health and health care, long term care insurance, planning for pension distributions, suitability of investments, federal estate taxation and counseling on key family decisions. The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation has long been recognized as the fundamental and foremost educational credential for life insurance professionals. Since 1927, more than 94,000 individuals have earned their CLU, helping them build a successful life insurance practice by providing clients with knowledgeable and ethical advice. For financial representatives, field management, home office personnel, and others involved in providing life insurance products to the public, the CLU designation symbolizes continuing growth and commitment to professionalism.
